I can easily say that this is my favorite piece I HAVE EVER MADE! I am so so so proud of this print!
Last September I went to visit Alex at The Asylum, her print publishing studio, and stayed for a week while we made this amazing print together.
We used 2 blocks, one for the dark burgundy line work ( top layer) and a second block for all the color layers. The second block was used to carve the bottom color layer, We editioned that layer, then took the same block, did a reduction cut (cutting away more of the wood for the middle layer) and then actually cut the wood block into multiple pieces to print different colors. I left that week not getting to see the final print because each layer had to dry before printing the next. And when she brought them to me in New Mexico I was completely floored with the final edition!
Because this was made with a reduction carving method, these prints will NEVER be able to be republished. There are only 26 in the world and that's all there will ever be.
