About Kimber

I'm Kimber. I drag sharp tools through linoleum, smash ink onto paper, and burn myself with a soldering iron. There's a 90% chance I'm wearing a bandaid right now.
My work tends to bounce around, from florals, smoking plants, a bee giving you the finger, to the occasional eyeball. My work is crass and cute. Nice with just the right amount of naughty. I like to switch up mediums constantly because doing the same thing every day sounds like a nightmare. If you're a little unhinged, moderately mentally unwell, or just funky in your soul... hi, welcome, you're in the right place.
As a kid I was always making something. Drawing, painting, foam clay, lanyards... so many lanyards. That creativity bloomed into a 19 year old graphic design major who had no idea what she was doing. I switched to fine arts with a printmaking emphasis, transferred to Auburn, and had a little menty b about how I was ever going to make money doing this. So I punked out and swapped to pre-pharmacy (I worked as a pharmacy tech at the time and saw the pharmacists making 100K a year to look at pill pictures on a screen... sign me up!) Until I hit organic chemistry and any illusions of becoming a pharmacist abruptly faded. So, I did what all fifth-year seniors do: transferred to the business school and got a BS in Business Administration.
After graduation I bounced around. Worked at a small custom sock company where two amazing women taught me how to actually run an ecommerce business, then pivoted completely and became an assistant teacher at a Jewish preschool in LA. That job filled my soul but not my pockets, so my evenings became funky art projects and TikTok videos.

Then 2020 hit. Covid. My grandmother's cancer diagnosis. Losing her, (miss you Jomama). It pushed me to seize my life by the balls. I knew if I never actually tried to be a professional artist, I'd regret it until the day I died. So January 2021 I filed for a business license and got to work. Juice boxes and playgrounds by day, carving, printing, and video editing by night. Eventually the business grew enough that I left the preschool and went full-time.
Early 2022 I started making stained glass. Through the collective efforts of my Christmas wish list and the generosity of my family and friends, I acquired most of the supplies, dove in head first, and became absolutely enthralled by the process.
Late 2022 I moved to New Mexico and set up shop out of the house. 2023 I bought a kiln and got into fused glass. 2024 I built a studio, which frankly, I had no business doing, added a puppy to the house, which I also had no business doing. These two choices nearly sent me over the edge. We made it through, barely, and only by the grace of god, and because of the support of friends and family.
